MS MR

With their Brooklyn postcode & a debut EP released on an artfully pop-culture splicing tumblr page, MS MR are yet another boy-on-production/girl-on-vocals duo mixing goth pop & dreamy electro pop Lizzy Plapinger & Max Hershenow (who until recently kept their identities secret) have made a licious indie-pop record.

Album opener 'Hurricane' is trip-hoppy while 'Bones melds booming drums & a doomful melody, 'Fantasy' is a cross between Lana Del Rey & Florence & The Machine love the video where the cheerleaders throw up glitter something strangely beautiful about that, 'Head Is Not My Home' starts a bit like a subdued Round The Twist Theme before heading into Laura Marling at one of her darker, more forceful moments, while 'Think Of You' turns a military drum roll tattoo into a thumping singalong.

The duo's vintage sound is undeniable & much more authentic & charismatic than a number of fellow alt-pop musicians you've probably jammed into, but also unlike their competitors MS MR presents a dreamy, extremley current element to their choons too, leaving an incredibly unique balance that we haven't been able to get out of our heads, Pitchfork awarded their groovy & haunting single 'Hurricane' the 'Best New Track' award & the tracks May 2012 video quickly garnered more than 1.5 million youtube views.

Take my word for it Secondhand Rapture is a licious gem among this seasons album releases & you  don't want to miss out.
With hypnotic & mesmerizing hooks like these MS MR need to be on your summer playlist!!!!

The Fireflys

The Fireflys are a 3 piece alternative rock band which formed in Runcorn, Cheshire in 2007, based on the songwriting of singer/guitarist Lee Wylding the band includes: Bassist Stephen Roberts & Drummer Andie Packer, marking the beginning of a new generation of guitar bands, they have a new album due out on the 5th August entitled 'Embers Of The Autumn' which branches out from the big rock sound of the band's debut.

They are so emotionally charged they are extremley passionate about their work & are indebted to the british invasion, crafting ringing melodic 4 minute guitar songs featuring great vocals & harmonies, constantly changing genre sensibilities i love it when bands get experimental this really shows their strengths & that they enjoy showing different sides to their sound & style they keep it exciting & entertaining they keep you longing for more pure genius.
Driven purely by the DIY approach of punk although not a punk band, the manifest of independent loyalty looms very large in the execution of the band's music & ethos, their influnces range from the likes of The Who, Joy Division, The Beatles, The Cure, R.E.M & Pearl Jam.
The Firefly's are seen by their fans as something to cling to in times of bleak despair & alienation & it's this in lee's lyrics that resonates with the dislocated souls that have never truly found their place in this world.

Their last album 'Cathedral For Your Ashes' recently reached No.22 in the Amazon Download Rock Chart, beating the success of their debut album 'Better To Burn Out' which reached No.27 in December 2010 & stayed in the Radio Caroline album chart for 12 weeks, reaching No.17, 'Cathedral For Your Ashes' & 'Better To Burn Out' are available now on itunes & Amazon.

Check out their music on Soundcloud: www.soundcloud.com/the-fireflys other songs include 'Easel', 'Dear Emily', 'Jenny, Play Your Guitar', 'Talking To The Satellite' & 'Rolling River'.

Kate Nash 'GIRL TALK'

Spectatular rare gem that is Kate Nash is back with a third album 'GIRL TALK' it echoes feminist punk, full on hard-hitting grungy punk *PunkTastic*.

The Deluxe Edition featuring the amazing singles '3AM', 'DEATHPROOF' & 'OMYGOD' includes 3 Bonus Tracks 'Mermaid Blue' 'Free My Pussy' & 'I'm A Feminist You're Still A Whore', plus a DVD loaded with bonus features this is the soundtrack to my summer.

Girl Talk sees Nash at her charismatic experimental best her music is constantly envolving, it is completely different from her two previous albums 'Made Of Bricks' and 'My Best Friend Is You', on this album it's more in your face *Punk Galore*, she goes all the way using her unique poetic lyricial brilliance all her songs have a story to tell which we can all relate too she is a lyrical genius.

Girl Revolution Nash has re-invented herself as a proud riot girl or grrrrrl i love her individual-ness i really admire her she is freedom of expression in it's finest form.

Nash fanatics will absolutely love it, think 'Mansion Song' except a lot louder!!!

If you love her punk side you will love it, this album is powerful stuff it's just sooooo licious every song is amazing so more like this please Miss Nash.

Fan's of Nash's first album might be shocked when they hear 'GIRL TALK' but anyone who enjoyed 'My Best Friend Is You' shouldn't be to suprised, she has gone full-blown punk on this album with gritty bass & guitar work along with raw emotion & aggressive delivery, highlights are the summery pop of 'OMYGOD', '3AM', the anguished 'Sister' & the raw punk girl-pop fusion 'Cherry Pickin', 'Oh' is a sentimental somber & touching ballad, 'You're So Cool I'm So Freaky' is a low-fi cute choon, 'All Talk' is the mouthy grungy punk that you would expect from the re-invented Miss Nash, 'Lullaby For An Insominac' closes the album effectively & ends in an utterly surprising way that it forces you to re-think the entire album.

Kate Nash is clearly an extremley talented musician who is total control of her art & it's thrilling to hear she puts her own stamp & spin on things she knows which direction she wants to take, on 'GIRL TALK' she mainly concentrates on her inner rebel & feminism but in a base way never commits to any type phasing which is really clever but hey that's Girl Talk!!!! She is just fabulous love her trademark of quirky mix of choons & i love the fact that she is so changeable!! Soooooooo nice to have Kate back she now does darkly delicious punk mixed with poetic rage so prepare for one hell of a rollercoaster ride.

Hit that repeat button 'GIRL TALK' will be your most played it's explosive and utterly compelling had me hooked from start to finish, she has brought a brand new dimension to her music, you will have withdrawal symptoms when you stop listening to it i've been playing it non-stop since getting my mitts on it, everything i loved about her last two albums is still on-going in this album but new elements have been added to spice things up.

Nash delivers a unique interpretation of the world around her & has a wonderful way of expressing herself & i'm lovin' every moment of it 'GIRL TALK' shows what a spectatular true talent Kate Nash really is, she has managed to twist a bit of darkness into her happy-go-lucky choons adding grungy guitar riffs, she has grown & developed as an artist i love her immense passion this album truly defines what she is all about i totally get her music.

So happy that i am experiencing this experimental journey with Kate Nash & that i am one of her 'Girl Gang' fans so jump aboard & be part of it, Nash loves having a strong connection with her fans she needs us we are her 'Girl Gang' she loves knowing that all her most loyal bad-ass fans in the world have got her back.

I really want go to one of her concerts & of course meet her that would be just so amazing please come back to Manchester Kate :) xx

You must own this licious album!!!!!!

KOBI

You'll probably want to remember this band's name, chances are you will be hearing alot more about them in times to come.
To have your first official release 'All The Way' produced by Grammy Award Winner Steve Orchard, whose track record includes working with the likes of Noel Gallagher, Travis & Paul McCartney bodes extremley well for the future.
Kobi is a Scottish Indie-Pop Rock act while they draw their inspiration from a massive range of musical sensibilities from the 80's up til now, these guys ultimately love to put it all into one format which just never ever grows tired.
Released on 22nd April 'All The Way' unselfconsciously aims high and they pull it off extremley well, their 80's influences are apparent and happily claimed, with refreshingly earnest vocals, epic guitar solos and unrestrained drumming, they are very much a modern-day band in essence it makes one want to see them live, their music is the type to get crowds madly excited about a new act.

Kobi are rapidly developing into a powerful proposition in the live environment and quickly building a strong following throughout the country.
Keen to consolidate a wide range of influences they are an artistically disparate outfit, inventive, experimental, interesting and very distinctive.
'All The Way' finds them in unashamed pop territory, drawing on a love of the 80's acts like The Cars, The Blue Nile, Aztec Camera as much as contemporary acts such as Foals & Arcade Fire, it's a single full of indie-pop energy & amazing hooks & passionate melodies it's one that reflects the band's extraordinarily diverse list of reference points & influences yet it's ultimately all about the band's shared love of the classic three minute pop song, frontman Gary Thain said 'The time is right for us to unleash this track, we've really embraced our pop sensation/pop sensibilities on this & have been blown away by the crowd's reaction when we debuted the song as part of our live set'.
The single has already started to bring in positive quotes such as 'This is a little bit lovely' - AltSounds, 'A Chorus you will be finding yourself singing to yourself over & over again' - Off The Radar Indie Music, 'One of the strongest pop/rock songs you've heard in years' - Highland News.
